Should you be using an EMF laptop shield? Electromagnetic fields are emitted from all mobile electronic devices and have been associated with a range of negative health effects.
Most people don’t think twice before placing devices like laptops or tablets on their laps. It’s even worse when it comes to our mobile phones: we touch them directly to our head and store them for hours in our pockets. With no shielding between these devices and our body, we are exposing ourselves to harmful EMF radiation.
Health Risks of EMF Exposure
So, how concerned about EMF exposure should we be?
Well, using EMF emitting devices like a laptop without shielding has been linked to a wide range of health issues. These include:
- Insomnia and other sleep related problems
- Depressive symptoms
- Headaches, tiredness and fatigue
- A lack of concentration and lapses in memory
- Loss of appetite and weight loss
- Dizziness and nausea
- Restlessness, anxiety and increased irritability
- A burning or tingling sensation in the skin
Even more troubling, research carried out by the World Health Organisation (WHO) found that EMF radiation is potentially carcinogenic to humans.
Limiting Your EMF Exposure
According to a report by IDC, 79% of people aged 18-44 have their smartphones on them for 22 hours a day. That’s an extremely worrying amount of EMF exposure.
With that in mind, here are some of the things I’ve started doing to reduce my exposure. Hopefully they will inspire you with some simple ways you can limit your own exposure.
Reducing Contact with Your Phone
You need to break up with your phone. Well, at the very least you need to let it know you will be spending some time apart!
Limit the use of your phone whenever possible. You can do this by using speakerphone or radiation-free air tube headphones when you make calls.
Try setting your phone to airplane mode when you’re not using it to reduce wireless transmissions and radiation. A prime time to do this is overnight while you’re sleeping.
Finally, instead of carrying your phone in your pocket, get in the habit of carrying it in a backpack or handbag.
EMF Laptop Shields & Headphones
Another way you can limit your exposure is to use devices designed to block EMF radiation. I’ve been using an EMF Laptop shield and EMF Shielding Headphones for a few months now and I am obsessed!⠀
